Hi, I'm Jiax. A nerd about credit cards and investing.

Chances are you're here because money feels like a subject only the pros are allowed to understand. Credit cards with more rules than a board game. Investing buried in terminology. And somehow it's still awkward to talk about money with friends.

I built this site for exactly that person. Because I was that person.

I learned money the hard way first

When I was young, my parents ran an art shop. 9am to 9pm, 365 days a year. Yes, that includes Chinese New Year, I spent mine manning the shop with them past midnight.

Then came 2008. Trying to protect what they'd built, they attended courses and listened to gurus, back when that world had far less regulation than it does today. They lost close to their entire life savings, and rebuilt from scratch.

So in my house, the market wasn't a wealth tool. It was a topic we avoided entirely.

The nerd path

After NUS Business School I went into entrepreneurship (much to the dismay of my Asian parents, iykyk). Actually, I'd already started while still a student: two businesses, including a video production company that ended up serving some of the world's top brands. All of it self-taught. That's the pattern with me, when something matters, I study it until I've mastered it, then commit properly.

Money got the same treatment.

The homework paid off twice

Miles:in university I put $10,000 into a secured credit card because I'd studied the system and was sure the strategy worked. Three years later I'd crossed a million miles. The best redemption wasn't for me. It was surprising my dad, the man who never takes a day off, with a business class trip.

That's what I mean when I say this stuff changes lives. It's not the points. It's who you bring with you.

Investing:the market humbled me first. In 2021 I ignored macro, the rate hikes hit, and I paid for that lesson with real money. So I did what I always do: went full nerd. I learned fundamentals properly, read stacks of research papers, studied options, and backtested my strategies against years of market data before trusting them with real money again. Since then I've beaten the market every year, and in 2025 my portfolio did over 70%, top 3% on moomoo.

One footnote I'll always attach: this site is me documenting my journey in the open, not promising yours. The record includes 2021 as much as it includes 2025.

Along the way, a few miles videos I made for fun went viral, and the comments showed me how many people wanted to learn this with nowhere good to start. That became 15,000 of us on Instagram, 18,000 on TikTok, features on CNA, work with KrisFlyer, and eventually, this site.

Which brings me to you

Truffle is what I wish existed for my younger self, and honestly, for my parents in 2008: everything useful I've figured out, made easily accessible, with the workings shown. No gurus, no promises, no jargon. Just my journey, opened up.

When I'm not doing this, I'm spending the miles: pyramids in Egypt, northern lights in Finland, Hawaii, South Africa. The travel isn't separate from the money stuff. It's the point of it.
