Money content is easy to fake and hard to trust. This page explains exactly how we research what we publish, how we pay the bills, and what to do when we get something wrong. If anything here does not match what you see on the site, tell us and we will fix it.

How we review cards

Every earn rate, fee, cap and exclusion comes from the issuer's own terms and conditions, not from the marketing page. Marketing pages round numbers up and leave the awkward parts out, so we read the actual fine print, including the merchant category exclusions that quietly decide whether a purchase earns anything.

  • Primary sources first. Bank terms and conditions documents, the card's official product page, and the airline or hotel programme's own rules.
  • Cross-checked. Where independent sources disagree with a bank page, we say so rather than silently picking one.
  • Dated. Card terms in Singapore change often, sometimes several times a year. We show when a figure was last checked so you can judge how stale it might be.
  • Flagged when unconfirmed. If we cannot verify a number against an official source, we mark it as unconfirmed instead of guessing.
  • First hand where possible. We write mainly about cards we hold and use. Where we are working from documentation rather than experience, we say that too.

Always confirm the current terms with the issuer before you apply. We are describing what we found on a particular date, and the bank can change it the next day.

Editorial independence

No bank, issuer or brand pays for coverage, for a positive review, or for a place in any ranking. We are not shown drafts for approval, and nobody outside Truffle gets to approve, edit or veto what we publish.

We pay our own annual fees. If a card is not worth it, we say it is not worth it, and our reviews carry a plain recommendation rather than a hedge. Where a card is genuinely good only for a narrow group of people, we try to name that group instead of recommending it to everyone.

How we make money

Some links on this site are referral or affiliate links. If you apply for a product through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That commission is how the free guides and tools get paid for.

The important part: a commission never changes what we recommend or how we rank anything. Some of the cards we rate most highly pay us nothing at all, and we still recommend them, because the alternative is a site you cannot trust. Where a page contains referral links, the disclosure appears before the first one rather than buried at the bottom.

Affiliate partners may set cookies to attribute a referral. How that data is handled is covered in our privacy policy.

Corrections and updates

Guides are living documents. When a card changes, we update the existing review in place rather than quietly publishing a new one, so the page you bookmarked stays correct, and we show a "last updated" date that only moves when the content genuinely changed. For material changes we also note what changed and when.

Found an error? Email hello@trufflebuddy.com and point us at the specific figure. Corrections to facts are made as soon as we can confirm the right answer, and significant ones are noted on the article itself.

What this site is not

Truffle is educational. Nothing here is financial advice, and nothing here is a personal recommendation. We do not know your income, your obligations, your risk tolerance or your goals, so we cannot tell you what to buy, sell or hold, and we do not try to.

We are not licensed financial advisers. What you will find instead is what we do with our own money and why, with the limitations stated next to the benefits. Where a decision is genuinely consequential, please speak to someone licensed and regulated.

Who writes this

Articles carry a named byline, and each one links to that writer's page so you can see their background and everything else they have written. Today that is Jiax.

Use of AI

We use software to help with research, drafting and formatting. Every article is directed, checked and signed off by a named human who is accountable for it, and the numbers are verified against primary sources before publication. We do not publish unreviewed machine generated content.
